The docmatische Gesellschaft is an international network of artists, scientists and journalists that has engaged with digital and post-photographic visual culture since the 1990s. With over 40,000 registered members, it promotes visual research projects around post-photography and generative AI. The DOCMA magazine emerged from this circle in 2003, along with the DOCMA Award, described by Die Welt as "the most renowned prize for digital art in Europe".
